Interior Design Ideas for Bedroom Color Schemes

I know that a warm gold is the “it” color as projected by Pantone and that several shades of gold are in the Sherwin Williams color projections for the upcoming year. That doesn’t mean we should abandon our favorites because they are not the latest big thing.
color forecast for 2009 from Sherwin-Williams
The main consideration when selecting the color scheme for your bedroom is that you look and feel good in there. The surrounding color has to support you when you’re feeling sick (then you don’t want yellow), angry (then you don’t want red), seeking comfort (then you don’t want bright white) as well as on the cheerful sunny days when all is right with the world. Your skin should be enhanced, and if you’re sharing this room, then the color has to be vetted for your partner as well.
So with that in mind here are some classic background colors which fit that description. Blues for the soothing restfulness, pale peaches and pinks for the romance, warm taupe for the comfort, and gray for day dreaming, writing and composing. These hues were chosen because they elicit a positive color response as opposed to being “in fashion”. In fact because of product color life cycles, I think we will start to see more peach and pink than we have over the last five years. With the current state of the world economy we will need our rose colored lenses to move forward with optimism.
These paint colors are all from Benjamin Moore. From left to right, top down: Spring Violet, Whispering Peach, Smoke, Wet concrete, Flush Pink, Dreamy Cloud, Ocean Air and Moon Shadow.
And some photos to show the color in combination with a neutral and an accent.
